Description

This is a control deck that works not though gaining card advantage but through bottlenecking opponent\’s spell output to one each turn with archon of Emeria and rule of law. Ideally the single spell that is cast by the opponent each turn is bounced back to their hand while simulataniously digging for another bounce spell with spells like Obscura interceptor, Divide by zero getting teachings of the archaics, and of course Teferi time raveler. For fast decks that make a large board before you resolve archon/RoL (elves, goblins, artifacts), Consuming tide becomes necessary to bounce their board while keeping archon/RoL in play while also potentially recurring some value from omen of the sea, obscura, or borrower.

Sideboard:

Control: Against control the deck can be awkward due to the fact that most control decks are much more suited to playing under archon/RoL. However the 4x mainboard teferi is our saving grace in this match up effectively shutting down their ability to evade RoL by using their instant speed interaction on your turn, turning RoL from a dead card into a complete lockdown of the opponent. As always cheap flying beaters are going to be very effective against control decks so almost always sideboard in the 4th copy of borrower or potentially a nimble larcenist. Ignite the beacon can also be useful considering how teferi centered this matchup is. Potential cards to go would be RoL, consuming tide, unsubstantiate and perilous voyage.

Aggro: Not much to do here just sideboard in the 3 fading hope to help buy some time while searching for tide. borrower could go.

Combo: just sideboard in the 4th RoL. this matchup is usually free.

BG/midrange/pile: swap an archon for RoL to avoid creature removal, maybe bring in some dream fracture for giga threats like invoke despair.

Mill/Rogues: obviously put in Elspeth Sun\’s Nemisis here. (there is probably a more synergistic graveyard threat in UBW Elspeth works for me tho)
