Colorless the endless force of the void | Eldrazi colorless EDH

Code with a showcase into the void of hunger, the blind eternities bring forth huge titanic forces that will sweep the board on EDH

Colorless EDH

The lack of identity, or does it all with the right amount of power, Colorless or devoid of colors is an special part of Magic The Gathering, the lack of identity is special and mostly only found in artifacts, objects with no mind, but for creatures with lack of colors there’s no attachment or premises to hold onto pure colorless mana, any mana is colorless, and for basic lands we have Wastes, in EDH or Commander colorless is special as it deals with Artifact creatures and the usual culprits the big massive entities born from the blind eternities, the Eldrazi.

Colorless in EDH it tends to be tide to artificial beings, take a look to Hope of Ghirapur a cheeky little creature being able to hit play in the first turn, and have a core gameplan into attacking and forcing its effects for opponents to cast only creatures spells, it might not seem much, but negating all type cards except for creatures is a big deal, that would only left abilities from cards to be play by other methods, cycling, etc…

Colorless Commanders

The Peregrine Dynamo is a 1/5 Haste artifact creature, that is able to copy abilities from other legendaries in play in your control, this is a very unique ability that mostly often appears in artifacts but here in EDH capacity we can harness this potential for a playstyle of getting the most on other legendary colorless cards just think of this, Planar Bridge is in play and you activate its effect to directly bring a card from your deck into play and being able to copy this effect, which is really good, and of course colorless has options to do what all colors do but at a high cost with noticeable difference with their color counterparts, a great example is Solemn Simulacrum for 4 colorless mana is a 2/2 that on ETB effect brings a basic land from the deck into play, and on death let’s you draw a card, the Simulacrum is always a good creature to bring into, for land fixing, and draw advantage for 4 mana.

Eldrazi

One especial race the blind eternities gave birth to is the big Eldrazi, a race that is synonym of destruction, wake, desolation, and gigantic proportions not only size but raw power, the big three Eldrazi, commonly known, by Kozilek, Ulamog, and Emrakul, these big fellas have plenty of MTG cards form by now, the original 3 first shown in Zendikar block, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Ulamog, the infinite gyre, and lastly the biggest Eldrazi Emrakul, the Aeons Torns, so powerful and broken for EDH that is effectively banned. Take a look at this deck.

couple of mana rocks Sol Ring, Everflowing Chalice, Mox Opal, Expedition Map, Doubling Cube, are just mana pieces, to effciently have mana casting power into creatures, It that heralds the end, Solemn Simulacrum, Geode Golem, and don’t forget spells Warping Wail modal spell that let-s you counter a sorcery spell, or remove a 1 toughness creature from play, getting that pesky mana dork out of the way is a great deal in EDH games.

All is Dust is an incredible boardwipe, as you deal without colors and end up being totally unaffected by it, meanwhile your o griefing their boardstate that got completely decimated by it, Echoes of Eternity is a great enchantment that let’s you copy and reiterate your effects and spells, by mere 6 mana converted cost, this is absolutely an enchantment lightning rod, that will have a target on its back to be destroyed ASAP.

as the game progresses, Ugin, Eye of the storms makes an appearance, when cast let’s you exile up to one target permanent, that’s one or more colors, and when you cast another colorless spell, exile up to one target permanent that’s one of more colors, so the idea of this Ugin, is to have everything exiled by just casting colorless spells, which is easily done, with mana rocks, Eldrazi’s, and so on.

Zhudolok, Void Gorger is another low cost alternative, that makes anything you cast above 7 mana to have Cascade, Cascade, which will reveal cards from the top of oyur library until a card with 6 or less converted mana costs appears and it is going to be played without payings its mana costs, so anything beyond 7 mana will bring 2 more pieces from the deck forward, this deck specializes in turning pressure into the mid game, bringing Commander's Plate and if equipped your creature will have protection against all 5 colors.

Chimil, the inner sun is one of my favorites as your spells gain counter spell protection, what a sweet effect, and not only that, and the end of your turn you get to Discover 5, which is kind of a Cascade effect, that will exile the tops cards of your library until a card with converted mana cost of 5 or less hits the battlefield.

What colorless does best?

Colorless packs effects into unanimated objects, there’s plenty of good artifacts to choose from, and get the most reiterating effects with Voltaic Key, Doubling Cube is just an example of that, steep mana costs will also give you the best effects, Flayer of Loyalties will gain control of a creature and also gain Eldrazi effects, Annihilator 2, and Trample, It that betrays will make everything your opponents sacrifice will enter your side of the board, Skittering Cicada will give you Flash effects for all your cards, which is huge against control decks forcing them to cast counterspells on their turn, or just gaining turn advantage.

Newcomers

Fresh from our friends at WotC, Krang, Utrom Warlord, is a 9/9 for 9 mana artifact creature, Flying, Trample, Indestructible, Haste, and other creatures will also gain these effects, might seem over costly commander at first, but take into account, Sol Ring, Thran Dynamo, Solemn Simulacrum, these cards will bring the right pace for Krang to make its way into the battlefield and bring pressure with a bunch of more artifacts that will swing for lethal, spells like Eldritch Immunity and Null Elemental blast will bring spell tactics as options to deal with pesky pieces and protecting your board state.

Wrapping up

Colorless is not easy to deckbuild as it doesn’t have a key feature but a bunch of powerhouses to try and mix and match depending on the overall sinergy, Darksteel Monolith let’s you cast Darksteel Forge basically for free, so it all depends on timing for the opponent to not mess with your boardstate, there are plenty of legendary artifact creatures to choose from to ideate your colorless commander, and costly Eldrazis that will annihilate their way into play, Colorless is a really fun take at EDH as it is not often seen due to its costly early game, transition to mid game where big hitters are making an appearance to turn on the engine for big effects, any opponent that is faster is going to be pain to deal with, but for multiplayer casual play, its really fun to just bring your Hope of Ghirapur turn 1, and letting your opponent try and fix a way into casting non-creature spells again.

The Eldrazis are big and costly, but their effects are bombs that turn the tides in-game anytime they are played, all of them have “cast” effects which even in counterspell success their effects will still happen, and they are Commanders they can be recast again and again, the eldrazi are a menace to deal with.

Not only that but to mention XX casting costs are present with Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate, can enter at anytime during the game, either as 1/1 in turn 2, and when dies it will manifest the top cards of the library by the amount of +1/+1 counters it has on, Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter a 3 CMC Flash, Flying, which let’s you play colorless spells and artifacts as though they had flash, and Liberator will gain eventually +1/+1 counters.
