cEDH has seen a shake-up with the release of Reality Fracture. Last time we checked into the metagame, we looked at the entirety of the 2026 Metagame up until September. It’s been a little over one month since then, and despite there being only one set release since the last, the metagame saw a shake-up. The cEDH October Metagame has seen a lot of experimentation with new cards. Reality Fracture brought a lot of powerful cards and has even seen a new commander stand out as a meta contender. In this article, we’ll go over what has been going on in the cEDH October Metagame and new card choices to keep an eye out on.

The New Hotness: Dack Fayden, Helping Hand

To start, let’s look at the clear winner for cEDH when it comes to new cards: Dack Fayden, Helping Hand. Mono White is arguably the weakest color combination in cEDH. The choices for viable Mono White commanders are…very low. But, they finally have a new option thanks to Reality Fracture’s Commander precon! Looking at it at first glance, the commander doesn’t seem too special.

However, with the right selection of creature cards, you can guarantee a win the turn that Dack Fayden, Helping Hand enters the battlefield. It’s a heavy Stax/Control deck, building up your mana as quickly as you can so you can cast your commander as quickly as you can. The deck is biding its time until it can cast its commander and win the game. Often, this is waiting for setup to make sure your combo doesn’t get interrupted. It is very “all or nothing,” as there isn’t much of a backup plan. That’s what the weakness is, it can fold heavily if its main gimmick gets taken care of. Which, granted, is a very strong gimmick.

The deck plays a very small selection of creatures to make sure that you always hit your combo. It’s a line that involves repeatedly blinking Radiant Solar to venture through the dungeon infinitely. This causes a loop that can burn all your opponents out of the game. You also have an option to pivot into Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward to make infinite creature tokens (though this route doesn’t have haste, and requires you to wait a turn cycle in order to win the game. However, with Preston, the Vanisher, you can remove all nonland permanents everyone controls to make it a tad easier.

The Combo

So, the combo is simple. First, cast Dack Fayden, Helping Hand. Then, you’ll put three creatures onto the battlefield. Essentially, you need to hit Radiant Solar and Preston, the Vanisher. If you don’t hit both with your Dack Fayden trigger, you can simply blink it with the creature that you did hit. Nearly every creature in the deck is a blinking creature in order to always get your main combo line going.

The combo assembled is Radiant Solar, Preston, the Vanisher, and in this example, we’ll use Felidar Guardian. We’ll assume Dack Fayden, Helping Hand hit these three. Since you didn’t cast Felidar Guardian, Preston, the Vanisher will be able to copy it as well as Radiant Solar. With Preston’s copy, target the original Felidar Guardian and with the original, target Radiant Solar. Keep looping this to infinitely to venture through Lost Mine of Phandelver, making sure to go the route that goes through Dark Pool to burn everyone out of the game each time.

Again, if you didn’t hit these, simply blink Dack Fayden, Helping Hand with whatever you did hit until you assemble this combo. The best part about this is that it’s impossible to whiff. You will always be able to hit the combo. The downside is that there are choke points that can cut it off. It is possible to counteract this with more blink cards that are instants like Ephemerate and Flicker if anything gets targetted by removal. Your opponents can’t actually counter anything in the combo but the commander itself. So, unless they attack you on the stack, once it hits the battlefield, if no one has interaction, you get to win the game. cEDH Dack Fayden has already won a couple of tournaments, including Mulligan Championship Series October and Baked Ziti 4, and has appeared in multiple top cuts.

Geist of Saint Thalia

Another new card that has multiple eyes on it is Geist of Saint Thalia. It isn’t the most exciting card in the world, simply discounting noncreature spells by one. This does make Turbo and Midrange decks more consistent and gives you a decent body on the battlefield. It most recently featured in a winning deck at a cEDH event in Ohio with over 100 entrants, being featured in a Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. list. It pairs nicely with Ral, Monsoon Mage, which already sees play, letting Blue have access to the same effect. Or, they can be played together for some extra redundancy or ways to discount your noncreature spells even further.

Although you’d like for it to be on the battlefield, drawing it late-game might not be too relevent. Its color is beneficial to it, as, unlike Ral, Geist of Saint Thalia can be pitched for cards like Force of Will. Turbo Naus, Midrange decks like TnK, and more all appreciate having a Geist of Saint Thalia in the pocket, and it shows that effects don’t have to be flashy to be cEDH-playable.

Pia, Aether Ascetic

Another card making an impact on the cEDH October Metagame is Pia, Aether Ascetic. Good enchantment tutors are rather far and in between. Cards like Enlightened Tutor aren’t common, and they generally all require White. However, Pia, Aether Ascetic gives you a solid enchantment tutor on a Green spell. If a deck doesn’t have access to White, it’s one of the best ways to tutor for an enchantment.

It fits really well in decks like cEDH Etali or Rog/Thras as a way to tutor for powerful enchantments, most notably Food Chain. The ability to tutor for utility enchantments like Mystic Remora and Rhystic Study is also appreciated. It adds new consistency in a way that non-White decks didn’t have before. And even then, White doesn’t have that many good enchantment tutors, so having a new tool in the toolkit for those is very much appreciated in cEDH.

A strength of Pia, Aether Ascetic is that it’s a creature. Green has a lot of creature tutors, meaning it can easily fetch it from the deck. This has given Simic decks especially a big boon in power and consistency, especially ones that play more of a Midrange game, and has seen play in various cEDH decks.

Carnivorous Cultivator

The most sleeper card that has been a notable impact on the cEDH October Metagame is Carnivorous Cultivator. It’s an easy way for non-Black decks to easily dump a land into the graveyard. This is very strong in Land-Combo decks, most notably Lumra, Bellow of the Woods decks. It’s also a solid body on the battlefield, and can get lands out from the graveyard if you ever need to for whatever reason.

While you can’t re-prepare it, you often don’t need to. One use of Enroot is usually enough to get the ball rolling to get to your combo faster. Its biggest strength is the low-mana investment needed, while not being an amazing removal or counter target, so odds are it’s going to resolve in a lot of scenarios. While it’s not as broadly powerful as some of the other cards talked about here, it’s notable enough to make some off-meta decks more threatening.

The Samut Twins

In Reality Fracture, two new Samut cards came to shake up the cEDH Metagame in October: Samut, Hazoret's Champion and Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun. One gives all your creatures haste, and one gives your instant and sorcery spells split second. Both of these effects have proven themselves to be incredibly useful in cEDH.

Starting with Samut, Hazoret's Champion, the ability to give your creatures haste is fantastic. This enables a lot of combos to be done as soon as they’re available, instead of having to wait a turn cycle for combos that require a creature to be tapped. It’s being most commonly played in cEDH Sisay decks, giving an early Red pip for its stat boost along with just being a great utility card for the toolbox deck.

Moving over to Blue Hazoret, Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun is the most hyped card for cEDH. By giving your instant and sorcery spells split second, this prevents your opponents from reliably interacting with any of those spells you do. It’s important to note that you can’t cast spells either with split second, so you won’t be able to hold priority to cast another spell when one is on the stack. This can hurt Turbo decks that may require this. It is, however, much stronger in Midrange decks as it guarantees you win any counter wars, and guarantees your utility spells will resolve.

Most Popular Decks in October

Since our last check-in, the two most played decks are Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy and the partner pairing of Kraum, Ludevic's Opus and Tymna the Weaver. Both of these decks have taken advantage of previously discussed new toys in this article, giving them a bigger boost in power. These two are the decks to beat, and if you’re planning on playing in any cEDH event, expect to run into these two decks, very possibly multiple times over the course of an event.

The biggest change in the top represented decks is that Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. has steadily improved its popularity and conversion rate. With all the new toys cEDH has gotten, its power has only steadily remained consisted, sitting along Sisay, Weatherlight Captain as the two best WUBRG commanders in the cEDH October Metagame.

Many of the other top decks are the usual suspects. Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh partnered with Silas Renn, Seeker Adept or Thrasios, Triton Hero, the latter of which also shares a top spot partnered with Tymna the Weaver. These are both very common, especially in larger events. They’re strength hasn’t changed much, and if anything, only added a card or two from Reality Fracture for some extra “oomph.”

New Performers

The cEDH October Metagame has a few new decks appearing that weren’t around last time we checked in on the metagame. Crystal, Inhuman Princess and Tayam, Luminous Enigma have both been making more appearances; both also possess a pretty solid win rate. They’re not quite as high as the other commanders talked about before, but enough that they make for solid choices if you want to play something a bit more off-meta from the more popular decks.

Magda, Brazen Outlaw has also been seeing a very solid win rate, even surprassing some of the most popular decks despite not being nearly as popular. If you love Mono Colored decks, both it and the previously discussed Dack Fayden, Helping Hand are both solid choices, with Arcum Dagsson rounding out the most successful choices in the cEDH October Metagame.

In Conclusion

In cEDH, the format is constantly changing. One month it might be a Turbo-dominated one, and the next Midrange might take its place. You never know what new decks will be discovered, and what new cards from new sets will make an impact. It’s rare that a set makes a huge impact on cEDH, but Reality Fracture managed to make a real shake-up in the cEDH October Metagame. In partiuclar, it gave a big boost to WUBRG decks, helping to establish them more firmly in the cEDH Metagame.

Some cards are still seeing experimentation, but might not have found the right home to make a full impact in. Just because a card isn’t seeing play now, doesn’t mean it won’t see play later. That’s the fun of cEDH, the meta is never firmly in place. With the cEDH October Metagame, we’ve seen a shift in power, with more WUBRG decks getting in on the aciton and gaining popularity compared to the previous months.

You can check out the last time we looked at WUBRG in the cEDH Metagame this way to see how 2026 started for the color pairing.
